The main objectives of this workpackage are the following:

To study novel molecules/pathways involved in key etiopathogenic mechanisms of epileptogenesis: We will examine the brain expression, blood levels and neuromodulatory properties of molecules involved in key etiopathogenic mechanisms of epileptogenesis using clinically relevant model systems
To study antiepileptogenic effects of combinatorial treatments: We will develop antiepileptogenic treatments based on combination of novel mechanism-target drugs and on novel combinations of clinically used drugs
To study the antiepileptogenic effects of novel combinatorial treatments using clinically used drugs
To develop tests for facilitating preclinical antiepileptogenic drug development to improve and foster drug discovery
